Convergence plans to be a venue resource as studio, gallery, rehearsal and performance space to local artists in the community. We would like to network with other organizations to provide additional resources to artists and partner with local service organizations to contribute through the arts to the needs of our local community. We welcome the opportunity to have conversations with the arts community in Alexandria, Arlington and DC to find ways that we can be a resource both as fertile ground for artistic pursuit and as a springboard for discussion on themes of faith, spirituality and what it means to be human.

Individuals
In an effort to act as an advocate for the arts in our community, world and church, Convergence: A Creative Community of Faith has committed to an ongoing program of resident artists.
Robert Webber describes a residency program in a church very simply in these terms: “In return for studio space and appropriate monetary remuneration, the artist-in-residence is available to create visual arts for worship, to instruct worshippers about the nature of visual arts in worship, and to involve members of the congregation in the design and fabrication of the arts in worship.” These terms can be applied to artists of all mediums as well.
This is an effort to move beyond theoretical discussion of the value of arts and artists in the life of the Christian community. This is an attempt to weave the arts into the fabric of our culture as well as engage those who are professionals and students in the arts to educate us as a church in these valuable languages, tools and expressions.

Vision for Space Usage
Convergence in engaged in renovation of its two buildings to provide gallery and installation space for exhibitions of local and upcoming artists as well as juried competition exploring current issues relevant to our world as a well as general themes of faith and spirituality. We are in discussions for transforming part of our space into a multi-use black box stage.
We partner with people who are vibrant contributors to our community to provide holistic resources to foster healthy, imaginative, empowered people and artists. Our classes are geared towards professional artists and beginners.
We are a resource to the person, the Creative. We provide the resource of space at accessible cost in a nurturing environment within which artists and arts organizations can build and grow.
